Up for consideration is a fine old polychromatic giltwood and iron/brass late
Victorian floor lamp in incredible original coloration. It stands 61 inches in height with a base diameter of about 12 inches. It has nice French Neoclassical swags of flowers at the knot and super textured surface at the base just to break up the ordinary. The color scheme works. Contemporary artists try to copy these types lamps but it is difficult to capture because it is hard to duplicate aged paint that is going on 110+ years. This type of lamp usually had a nice old fancy silk beaded shade or a hand painted parchment shade. It is unmarked. This is the style of lamp that was copied and or reproduced as it was a very popular form however this is an original piece. It is a combination of nice subtle decoration with mellow hues and patina. Please note the main stem just slips into base. I will leave it as such for easier packaging...I would suggest the new owner simply glue it in place. I believe the removable base is not an extreme novelty...I have seen sets of lamps that disassemble as such as one might recall electricity was a novelty and at times events called for lighting much like a folding chair lighting also was disassembled and put in storage. Likewise a Weddings Churches Funerals and other social events. Please see photos as part of the description. If you have any questions or concerns please message me... Buyer pays shipping.
