Up for consideration is a fine old Antique late 18th Century diminutive American
Pine 7" document box with hidden compartment in original untouched paint. It measures 7 inches in length by 5.25 inches in depth with a height of 5.5 inches in height. This wonderful bracket footed and primitive folky salmon colored muted paint is completely over the top. The wire hinge no longer sits in the hole...There are no visible changes made...it is completely charming as it is slightly off centered. This is a pretty exceptional piece of Folk Art that needs more investigation as one knows there are some very expensive and highly significant pieces in and around this time.
