Movement Kerosene or Candle Spherical fixture with inset glass jewels. Believe me I have been buying and selling lighting for decades almost daily and this is a nice larger way above average fixture in excellent condition. This spherical fixture has wonderful colored glass jewels with trefoil holes spaced equally over the fixture. It has it's original chain canopy. These could have had a kerosene burner inside or a candle holder. Earlier versions may have even used gas. These sometimes associated as Gothic Ecclesiastic pieces but there are no rules as they fit right into Victorian Gothic design. It comes out of an old estate in the Boston Edison District in Detroit. The fixture without the chain or ceiling canopy measures 15 inches with a diameter of about 10 inches or slightly more. The jeweled finial is shown in some photos...it needs to be tightened up a bit. One simply pulls down on the finial and the bottom piece drops down exposing the inside...at present there is no font of candle holder...there was a small electric socket ugly newish socket that was hanging from it's wire along the chain it was hideous and discarded...this is a great item to swag somewhere and to use an ambient light piece.
