ARITA (IMARI) PORCELAIN BOWL-SIGNED TEZUKA, CIRCA 1895This exquisite hand-painted Arita porcelain bowl from Kyushu, Japan, dates to
around 1895 and represents the artistry of the late Meiji period. The bowl features overglaze enamel decoration with intricate motifs of phoenixes and peonies (both traditional symbols in Japanese art), the phoenix representing virtue and renewal, and the peony symbolizing prosperity and honour. The rich palette of vibrant enamels is beautifully balanced against the creamy white porcelain body. The rim is elegantly bordered in black with floral panels and geometric medallions, a hallmark of high-quality Arita ware from the late 19th century.
