Up for consideration is fine oil painting of a tall ship by well known and
highly respected Massachusetts Marine-Ship Wildlife Illustration artist Frank Vining Smith (1879-1976). The painting alone without the frame measures 23.25 by 40 inches with the overall dimensions being 28.5 by 45.25 inches. The painting is signed "Frank Vining Smith" in the lower right corner and is titled "Off Cape Horn" on the back. It also has a provenance of previous owners and how each acquired the painting written on the back stretcher. It gets even better...it sports a original hand carved signed "R.C.Vose F 50" frame. This iconic Gallery and Frame company has a wonderful and important history which only adds to the overall charm of this iconic painting. It comes from a clean nonsmokers estate. No visible repairs or in painting. There is some light craquelure to the painting to the upper right sky area.
