Up for consideration is an extremely rare and unique tray depicting a portrait
of Marie Antoinettes pet dog "Pompon" probably by French artist Jacques Barthelemy Delamarre. Delamarre was notorious for painting this unique dog "Pompon" in a variety of setting with slight variations...in fact it is difficult to encounter a painting other than Delamarre's showing this particular dog...A new world record was set for the artist selling a "Pompon" portrait in May of 2023 at Sotheby's bringing in a whopping $267,400. The tray looks to from the early 19th Century. The tray measures about 22 inches by 30 inches and is in need of restoration. Not much is known of Delamarre and his exact birth or death few biographical details are known, apart from him being admitted to the Paris Académie Saint-Luc in 1777.
