This is a genuine Mexican Sterling Silver Eagle Hallmark from the Era, approximately 1948–1979. The Eagle 3 stamp indicates the piece was assayed in Taxco, Guerrero (Mexico’s premier silver center during the mid-20th century silver boom). The eagle system guaranteed at least .925 purity (sterling standard), and “3” was specifically assigned to Taxco-origin pieces.

The MLV (sometimes seen as LMV in worn stamps) is the maker’s mark. It belongs to a Taxco silversmith or workshop active in the 1950s–1970s, often producing modernist designs, stone-set rings, clip earrings, cufflinks, and bracelets (frequently with materials like abalone, chrysocolla, tiger’s eye, or other cabochons). The exact identity is not fully documented in major hallmark references, but some vintage dealers and sales attribute “MLV” to Margarita Vera Laguna, a lesser-known artisan from that period. Many pieces remain unattributed due to the large number of small Taxco Talleres (workshops) that didn’t achieve fame like Spratling or Margot de Taxco.

This Hallmark confirms a mid-century Taxco piece—Collectible for its Bold, often Abstract Style.
