Joe comments about this design, "I just happened to glance up at a salmon drum made by my stepfather and was immediately drawn into the memories of our traditional smoked salmon in the fall. I realized how much we treasure the salmon and it was at that moment that this design came to me. The spawning salmon represents a renewal of this precious resource."
