Up for consideration is a large Antique 19th Century French Empire Bouillotte
Lamp with figural arms and finial...It measures a whopping 30 inches in height with a shade diameter of 18. Please understand that this is no ordinary lamp as evidenced by dramatic features from top to bottom. Starting with the top a full sized cast bronze figural finial of Eagle on ball measuring abut 4.5 inches. Then inching down we have a turning full arrow adjusting tightening key. If you look close there are 2 things to take note of. Firstly that a majority of Bouillotte lamps are made with the back part of the arrow only. Meaning there is no elongated front shaft and arrow point...secondly the arrow passes through the mouth of a lion...ahhhhh yes now I see it. Lastly with the upper portion the spreader of fitter consists of 3 swan necks with their heads mounting on to the edge of the tole shade...pretty cool. So thats the upper portion...the wonderful Eagle the full arrow and the swan's neck and heads. Yes the shade is adjustable...then further down we have stylized fairy caryatids on each arm...of which each cast girl has a cast signature on the back of her wings...
•__bert" yeah that is pretty nice also and the Empire Caryatids 3 of them with black background holding laurel wreaths on the main stem...seemingly joined and supporting the lamp more or less like they are used in Architecture....Lastly the base has some Neo-Classical motifs along the edge...No doubt a premium lamp with many novelty type items that separate it from the rest...and in the end making it more scarce and desirable then a sea of others below. No visible repairs...The shade needs the cast necks to be heated and bent so that the shade sits evenly. If you have any questions or something to share please message me buyer pays shipping. Thanks with almost 25 years and thousands of sales it's clear we are in this for the long haul. Thanks again.Best Regards,JohnnyJohnnyCrystal Est. 1987
