Jim Norton (1953-) Utah. The painting without the frame measures 22 by 32 inches with overall dimensions of the frame being 31 by 41.5 inches. The painting is signed in the lower LL as well as on the back along with, date of 1983 artist signature, Title (Bringin Them Home) and Artists inventory number. The painting comes complete with the original bill of sale from the "Oregon Trails Fine Art Gallery" along with Certificate of Authenticity from the Gallery as signed by registered Notary Public. Furthermore a brochure telling of the artists work from the Gallery. All this will accompany this colorful work of art. The previous owners purchased this painting directly from the gallery in 1983 and it has been in their possession until now and of course I have purchased it. Jim C. Norton (Born 1953) is active/lives in Utah. Jim Norton is known for Cowboy-Indian genre, landscape Born in Price, Utah, Jim Norton is known for his paintings of real-life cowboys and their horses. He also paints Indians and has a collection of authentic Plains Indian costumes. He spent most of his youth in western Wyoming where he gained a working knowledge of ranch life. His skill at depicting the cowboy and his activities earned him membership in 1989 in the Cowboy Artists of America, dedicated to the painting tradition of Charles Russell and Frederic Remington.He was raised in Lyman, Wyoming, and showed art talent from childhood. Following high school graduation, he spent two years as a Mormon missionary in Australia and then studied art briefly at Brigham Young University under William Whittaker. Mostly he followed the advice of a teacher who told him to go out and paint, paint, paint. While his wife taught school, he worked for a food broker and painted when he could, and then finally quit his day job to paint full time.
