Up for consideration is a matching set of (3) Italian Veduta or historical view
oil paintings. The paintings alone without the frames measure about 11.50 by 14..75 inches and with the frames slightly larger. The frames are dovetailed and are probably made of walnut or fruitwood. The paintings are traditional form called more or less a Veduta meaning "view" and "Vedute" for plural. They can be done from memory a made up view or of an actual site location. This particular set are pretty lively when it comes to coloration in the sense they look freshly painted. These were protected for at least a century from the air smoke ...etc. from the elements as there was a protective piece of glass that covered the pieces...of which have been removed and discarded. They come from a clean nonsmoker's estate. There is some light wear where the glass has come into contact with canvas as well as some general light wear along the frame. The frames look to be handmade and are dovetailed on corner which is sort of interesting to see. These may be part of the overall Grand Tour painting of which visitors purchased to bring home after visiting or touring the historical landmarks in Italy etc. If you have any questions or something to share please message...buyer pays shipping.
