Up for consideration is a fine pair of Marble Bronze and Crystal Lamps with
Wedgewood Jasperware inserts by E.F.Caldwell of New York. The lamps measure about 24 inches in height by about 10 inches in width. The lamps display well and can be classified as Neo-Classical in form. They date just after the turn of the century and retain their original old cloth wiring sickets and bisque socket covers. They even have high end pull chain assemblies which had just been introduced at that time. Caldwell was the premier lighting and founding company which not only retailed items but also designed and actually created items for high end clients both individuals and for companies such as Tiffany. They cast items for Tiffany also. During their time one could purchase items in stock or sit down and peruse their infinite amount of catalogs of pictures or plates of things that have been made or elements gathered from abroad used to aid in the design of something you wanted made. So you could look at pictures of wall sconces and say I want that backplate and then look for arms that suited your needs adding and or subtracting design elements. And if they didn't have what you wanted manufactured they would make it for you. Of course it cost plenty of cash at that time. Likewise most wealthy clients from across the nation came to New York to purchase lighting and accessories from Caldwell. Their full catalogue is available at the Smithsonian and if you have a few weeks to look through them as their are literally 10's of thousand of plates and book to peruse. You will find the exact picture of these pieces. I have done it several times over the years. A similar pair is for sale on First dibs. If you have any questions or concerns please message me. Best Regards,JohnJohnnyCrystal Est. 1987
