Up for consideration is a fine Nocturnal Oil painting depicting possibly a Paris
Street Scene in a tonalist manner. The painting is done by listed artist Evelyn McGinnis. It is signed lower right and signed dated with copyright claim for the image by the artist on the Verso. The painting measures 24 by 36 inches not including the frame. Overall dimensions being 34 by 44 inches. The painting is very well done and depicts a possible Paris Street Scene as an Atmospheric Nocturnal in a wonderful Blue palette. Not much comes up from the artist as far as Biography or past record sales...at present she is listed with just a few desert Watercolors and some prints and posters which is a good sign. As they say it is better than nothing at all. Her auction listings are rather insignifcant compared to a monumental piece such as this...nonetheless paintings as such shown here are in unchartered territory...Like other artists when a small scale watercolor is priced rather low than with a more significant piece comes to mark relative pricing comes into play. Larger scale works thought to be exhibition pieces is usually what the market tends to absorb at higher prices...and of course that is up to the market between buyer and seller. I am sure that someone knows more than what is shown when Googled. She came from somewhere and probably had some academic training. Likewise Women were discriminated against in the Art World...men getting more credit for their where equally talented and at times more interesting female artists were glossed over...although there has been a significant trend of Women gaining more interest over the last 20 years there is still a long way to go in My Humble Opinion. Thanks after 25 years of dedicated presence here on eBay we stand behind all our work. If you have any questions or something to share please message me...Buyer pays shipping...
