up for consideration is a fine Antique painting that looks to have been
influenced by or in the style of the Pre-Raphaelites of the third quarter of the 19th century It is unframed and is large it about measures about 33.5 inches by about 46 inches in height. The painting depicts a woman totally engaged in securing a fairly nice gold bracelet on her wrist while holding what looks like a gold ring. She has fine sort of simple Neo-Classical dress on with a light veil or floral embellishments in her hair. She looks to be in a Gallery or living space with high ceiling and there appears to be either a secretary book case with books or it is some sort of textile...not sure...It really is a mesmerizing piece. It sports a label attached to the back marked "Sir H. Drummond Wolff Bournemouth Station Hants". He was quite an important English Politician and international Diplomat in the third quarter of 19th Century. There is also a label on the stretcher in reference to possibly a Gallery in Belgium through Brussels to "Anvers" which I believe is Antwerpen when translated. It does not appear to be signed...There are 2 large patches on the back which means there is some in painting. The canvas has been detached from the stretcher on 2 sides as the tacks have popped through. Likewise there is a small L shaped tear bottom left. Please understand the painting is difficult to shoot as there some glare and the canvas is a bit wavey. To the right looks to be some books and or textiles. The coloration is wonderful deep and rich. There appears to be some more jewelry in the bottom right corner. If you have any questions concerns or something to share please message me...It was purchased from a very worldly old estate of fine things. Buyer pays shipping.
