Yes thanks you we are offering a life sized or bigger than life size large
Native American Indian Sign holder by noted Michigan Outsider Artist Wesley Merritt 1929-2004. The piece is carved from a Cedar log and stands a whopping 82 inches in height by 22 inches wide with a depth of 24 inches deep approximately. He weighs about 175 pounds and is free standing. He has great coloration in a wonderfully naive Outsider stlye He is signed (chiseled) on the upper back portion "W.Merritt". After viewing some of his works via online we believe this work to possibly be one of the more important pieces Merritt sculpted. There is great attention to detail and coloration when compared to his other pieces Please understand that Merritt sold his works in his yard and of which this may have been a piece that held a cardboard sign that Merritt may have used promoting his works. Artist info: Merritt is often described as a self-taught artist. He never received academic training as an artist nor was exposed much to the social-cultural mainstream. Indeed, he rarely traveled more than a few miles from his home. Merritt’s work though was shown by several galleries during his lifetime: Tamarack Gallery in Omena, Michigan and Nautical Antiques of Lake Leelanau, Michigan. His work likely traveled further than he ever did. Merritt produced several hundred folk sculptures of animals, Native Americans, pioneers, farmers, and biblical characters between 1960 and his death in 2004. He had a compulsive need to create sculpture, believing that his talent was a gift from God that should not go to waste. In 1981 he said, “I’m most generally happy through Christ. Without Jesus, we wouldn’t know how to carve. If it’s the will of God, come summer we’re gonna have a lot of strange things out here [his workshop and yard].” His work has a certain naïve charm about it that is as hard to resist as his philosophy: "I'm happy with a piece of log...and money enough to get chisels and carve...I do it mostly ‘cuz I love it. I don't want to sell it much. I do sell it, but I do it more or less ‘cuz I love it. If you don't love it, don't do it. I don't think we will ever get rich, but in our hearts we are rich in peace of mind. I'm most generally happy through Christ. Without Jesus we wouldn't know how to carve. If it's the will of God, we're gonna have a lot of strange things around here." Wesley Merritt. (gleaned from an article generated from Dennos Museum Center).
