up for consideration is a very large Venetian heavily thick carved and painted
bed dating from about the turn of the century. The headboard stands about 50 inches in height with overall width of 70 inches and its depth, as it curves in at each end, is about 16 inches. It sports fabric on the back as well as button and tuck silk material on the front. The flowers on top are 3 dimensional thick carved pieces and when standing in between the head board and foot board it's like one is in a chariot, sleigh or an old antique carousel ride. It is that thick or robust. The side rails measure around 65 inches in length and are highly decorated with differing tones of gilt work and matching floral hand painted embellishments in neutral colored cartouches... The foot board curves back inwards an additional 12 inches making the overall length of the piece somewhere around 92 inches when assembled with a width of 70 inches. Please understand that some people want old things that look new in perfect condition well sorry to disappoint you this bed is probably not for you...but if you are big on character and enjoy pieces that have that indefinable old World Charm well this piece may be for you...Although the piece is old and dusty it comes from a pet and smoke free environment with No foul odors. This piece along with several others comes from an old Mansion in the Boston Edison district here in Michigan. We purchased 7 beds and 5 large mirrors of which 3 are still in their old original packing crates...all coming from Europe decades ago.
