18th 19th C Trompe L'Oeil Angel Oil Painting Cherubs Putti Aft Savauge De Wit

$ 5450.00
Up for consideration is a very  Rare French Antique Early 19th Century possibly
late 18th Century Trompe L'Oeil or en Grisaille painting of an Allegory of Winter with Cherubs or Putti warming to a fire. It is made to look like a sculpture in relief. Which was popular in the mid to late 18th Century and onwards. The painting measures without the frame measures 34 X 49 in length and slightly larger with the frame approximately 36" X 51". The painting looks to be at least 19th possibly late 18th century.  The stretcher is dark and heavily oxidized  of which one would expect for it's age...It has a tell tale sign of a nicely chamfered edge to the stretcher. There is also a  few stickers and numbers probably related to auction houses / exporting and catalogue inventory numbers. This style of painting looks like it was done in the manneer of 17th Century Old Master Jacob de Wit (1589-1674) or Piat Joseph Sauvage (1744-1818). It really is quite a remarkable piece and it deserves to go somewhere one appreciates it. It is in remarkable condition with no visible repairs...there is a few minor imperfections.
