Description
1038---1911 NY YANKEES SCRAPBOOK COVERING 36 GAMES
Detailed scrapbook of the 1911 NY Yankees aka Highlanders.
Amazing accounts of the May-June baseball season, covering 36 games.
All clippings are original and appear to be from the New York Daily Tribune.
Nicely assembled in an old cash book ledger.
Excellent coverage of some of the great players of the day, including games
against Ty Cobb and Walter Johnson.
Extremely vivid accounts of the games in great details.
The Yankees finished sixth in the AL with a 76-76 record,
under the direction of Player/Manager Hal Chase, his only full season as
Manager.
Most interesting clips include those with Ty Cobb.
Other interesting ones include Hal Chase pitching in an exhibition game vs the
Metropolitans.
Chase recording 21 putouts at first base in a game that lasted only 1 hour and
15 minutes.
Also, how about the protest when Stuffy McInnis of the Philadelphia Athletics
hit a homerun
while pitcher Karger of the Red Sox was warming up. Hilarious.
Overall, the book is in VG condition. As expected the old clippings
show some discoloration and minor chips etc.
The hard covers are in good condition and shows normal wear and tear for its
age.
It is slightly loose which is noticeable when first opened.
There are also several empty pages in the back. The book measures 9-3/4 x
6-1/4.
This scrapbook was discovered with several old newspapers and scrapbook remnants
in Western NY.
It is being offered as found.
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO REVIEW THE MANY IMAGES BELOW
Of course, I cannot include an image of every item in the scrapbook, but should
be
a good representation.
