2158----1969 PITTSBURGH PENGUINS MICHEL BRIERE 1ST NHL GOAL (PRE-SEASON OAKLAND) Rare, original item concerning the career of promising rookie Michel Briere of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Briere played one season (1969-70) before passing away in 1971 from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Canada. This one-page typed lineup from a game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Oakland Seals, took place on Oct 2, 1969. Briere won this game by scoring with 7 seconds remaining.   This turns out to be his first professional goal against an NHL team. In one of the clips we have added below, it reveals he scored a goal earlier in the pre-season against the Buffalo Bisons, a minor league team in the AHL. Interestingly, the Penguins signed Briere to his first pro contract after this game. The sheet measures 8-1/4 x 11 is green in color, and in EX condition.  It has been double folded.  There are several things to notice on the page. First, Briere was wearing No. 23 in this game.  When the season starts he switches to No. 21, the iconic jersey still hanging at PPG Paints Arena.  Keith McCreary changed from No. 21 to No. 10.  There are several typos on the Penguin side: (Duanne) Duane Rupp, George (Trowbrick) Swarbrick, Nick (Trowbrick) Harbaruk, (Dave) Dean Prentice, and of course (Michelle) Michel Briere. * * * * * * *
