Antique Black Forest Bear carved Wood Pen rest Inkwell 19th C nice form 5 1/4"

Up for consideration is fine figural Black Forest carved wooden bear combination pen rest inkwell or writing station. The piece measures 5 1/4 inches in length...and sports a hinged bear head that when retracted displays a hidden inkwell. This one is better than average with realistic carving and nice naturalistic log. He is really is quite handsome and lifelike... Afterall it's all about the bear and how good he looks...in the end it is a sculpture and we either accept or reject the artists work as believable. I think he got this one right. The Bear all in all is fairly dark much closer to the opening shot then the other lighter photos. The photographic area that I use for detail shots has a natural skylight which is great for somethings and not so good for others. It sort of blots out the old patina and lightens everything but does show all the details. If you have any questions or something to share...please message me.
