orig Italian Old Master Pietro Longhi 1702-1785 Oil Painting Venetian Portrait

Up for consideration is a fine original Oil on Wood Panel Portrait of Young girl playing the Viola by Listed Venetian Artist Pietro Lenghi (1702-1785).  The painting alone measures 5.5 by 7.5 inches with overall dimensions with the frame being 10 X 12 inches. The frame is signed N.M.Co. for Newcomb Macklin Company out of Chicago. The artwork is signed on the back in carbon "Peter Longhi" and is titled "The Proud..." Please see photos as part of the description. The title is somewhat obscured it has an inventory number of 2198. The painting depicts a Venetian interior scene of a  beautiful young girl playing what looks like a Viola with sheet music resting on a stand. The performer really has an interesting expression on her face. The painting as to be expected is a bit on the dark side however one can see that there is more going on then what meets the eye.   The signed frame looks to be from the 1920's or so and is obviously much later than the painting. It has a hand carved gilt wood lamp shade and a silk upholstered back covering. The frame has a somewhat distressed look to it and is in the style of what an original frame for this artwork would have looked like.       Pietro was the premier Interior Artist of  18th Century Venice. His paintings are sought after by private collectors and institutions alike.
