R,J. Horner Oak Gothic American Spanish Revival Dragon Gargoyle Desk We Ship

up for consideration is a signed R.J. Horner Gargoyle Dragon or Griffin  Drop Front Carved Oak Desk with premium fitted interior. The desk measures about 46 inches in height (I need to check again) by 35 inches wide by about 20 inches deep. It has a wonderful drop front writing surface of which when one pulls down the front there are 2 support arms that automatically slide out to support the drop front. It has fitted drawers in the gallery with two vertical file boxes that slide out. The interior has it's original key that locks. The piece comes from a dusty old estate and even though it had an old sheet over it some of the dust found it's way into the elaborate details of the carving. All the brass handles etc are all original.  There is a nice old brass gallery up top and it sports it's original tag on the back. As with all Horner items it is and was the best that money could buy. The patent brass hinge mechanism is dated for 1887. It is a heavy well detailed and carefully planned out piece. There is some light overall wear and a small old repair to the trim on the right side. The Cabriole ball and claw legs look as if the cabinet will jump up and fly away it is very naturalistic looking.  If you have any questions concerns or something to share please message me.
