Up for consideration is a very rare early automotive illustrative painting
advertising the options and upgrades for a 3rd generation Pontiac Lemans in the
1968-70 era. The advertisement makes reference to the 400 engine possibly
promoting the GTO package in one of the sketches...The work of art itself is
mounted on artist board and measures 8.5 inches by 11.5 inches. With overall
dimensions being about 15 by 20 inches. This is the type of work that was used
when pitching visual layout of the ad to General Motors execs for approval.
These were more or less the equivalent to a working sketch...probably not the
finished product...you know the old story board layout and Mad Men pitch...then
in final production after approval possibly a more refined copy...however please
note that early advertising brochure art and cars of earlier times focused on a
more realistic approach to copying the cars image...however the looser more
"Mod" modern styles eased up on the artists renditions allowing for a groovy
type wash over style in a variety of colors in the later part of the 1960's and
onwards..etc..you dig? The final advertisements were everywhere!!! These ads
were placed in magazines brochures etc... all over North America which includes
Canada... Please understand this is a work that is done by hand by one of the
firms here in Detroit in the mid 1960's. It is unsigned...provenance to be
revealled to buyer...It was Purchased from the estate of an original Detroit
illustrator who was active at that time and hoarded other works prior to his
efforts and after. Please understand I have about 40 pieces to present. If
you have any questions or something to share please message me...Buyer pays
shipping...signature confirmation when and where applicable.
