ShopifyThe Akashi Strait Bridge, also known as Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, connects Kobe on Honshu with Awaji Island in Japan’s Hyogo Prefecture. Opened in 1998, the suspension bridge spans the busy Akashi Strait at the eastern end of the Seto Inland Sea. Its 1,991-metre central span was the world’s longest when completed. The Maiko Marine Promenade beneath the bridge offers views over the shipping channel and surrounding coastline. Coordinates: 34.6165° N, 135.0216° E.
