2 Maitland Smith Hand Painted Wood Jungle Monkey Parrot Candle Holders Vtg

Set of 2, large Maitland-Smith, wood obelisk candle holders with hand-painted Jungle scenes complete with tropical foliage and charming monkeys, parrots and toucans on a black background and crackle finish. A wonderful example of Maitland-Smith's legendary old-world hand-painting and finishing techniques applied to its pieces. Carved mouldings adorn the top and bottom pedestals and are faux-painted aged and mottled gold. Holders are topped off with polished brass beboches secured by matching spear-shaped, screw-in picks which double to secure pillar candles. The larger of the holders measures 25 1/2" high and 8 1/2" square at the base. The small one measures 21 3/4 " high and 7 1/4" square at the base. The beboches are suitable for pillar candles from 1 1/4" to 2" in diameter. Both holders are in very good condition (see photos for details), some slight tarnishing spots on brass beboches . Lovely set of candleholders to add charm to a coffee table or console and suitable for tropical and traditional decor.
