2 Vintage Spain White Ceramic Pottery Cachepot Woven Rope Basket Planter 4"

Pair of vintage, woven ceramic, white, glazed Cachepots or Planters from Spain. These 4" (10cm) high ceramic baskets measure 5" (12.6cm) in diameter at the top and 4" (10cm) in diameter at the bottom. Bottoms have a slight "foot" of twisted ceramic chord - 1/4" (5mm) high. The inside base measures 2 1/4" (5.7cm) to accommodate a potted plant or liner and if the pot or liner is less than is 3 1/8" (8cm) it will not show above the edge. These pots are in very good condition overall with two areas of slight discoloration on one of the pots - a slight clay-red area on the inside bottom and a few of these spots on the top edge. See the last photo above for a detail on this. Stamped with "Spain" on the bottom. Such cachepots were made for many years in the second half of the 20th century by artisans in Spain, Italy and Germany for a variety of uses and in a variety of styles from very intricate with flowers and fruit adornments to simple weaves and plain surfaces. Spanish woven ceramic articles typically are made of flat or round individual or twisted coils loosely woven such as those seen here and are somewhat heavy. A lovely pair for plants on a sunny window sill or table. Useful as serving pieces on a bar or buffet as well.
