Antique, late 19th century, large brown hand blown glass Wine Bottle or Demijohn. As with true hand blown vessels for commercial or practical use, this one has a large, untreated pontil base and bubbles in the glass, slightly irregular shape and an applied glass wrap around the top opening for securing a metal foil over the cork stopper for secure transport. This heavy bottle weighs a hefty 6lbs, 4 oz. The bottle measures 20” high and is 8” in diameter at its widest point and 7” across the base. The top opening is 15/16” across. Found lined with dry wine sediments on the inside walls and fully cleaned to be ready to use as a decorative piece, as a vase or to fashion into a rustic table lamp.
