Antique English Oak Fireplace Fender Barlet Twist Adjust to Fit

Antique, 19th century, English oak fireplace Fender with barley twist accents and an adjustable front rail. This fender measures 52 3/4" wide when it is fully extended, 15" deep and 7 1/4" high. The center adjustment panel allows the two end rails to be extended from 45 1/2" to the maximum. This panel has a metal bottom and back plate with slider guides on both sides to keep the sliding rails straight and also to allow the length of the fender to be tightened with screws to make the unit stable at the desired size. Nicely carved and finished piece. In good condition with patina, slight wear to wood parts, some rust to metal parts. One small crack in wood at corner (as shown in photos) that does not effect functionality - see photos for details. An item in rich dark English oak with noticeable grain, clear gloss finish, destinctive twist detailing and traditional structure. A tasteful addition to help make a hearth more noticeable for safety or stylistic reasons.
