Antique, sterling silver souvenir Spoon from Chautauqua, NY. This unusual piece made by Towle around 1910 was a fun take-home item from the site of the original educational adult summer camps known as Chautuaqua which took place in rural towns all over the US at the end of the 19th century. This spoon measures 5 1/2" long, 1 1/8" wide and 7/8" high and weighs 18 grams. The beautiful handle has beaded edges and a lovely scroll detail on the back all the way down to the bowl. The hand hammered and gold plated bowl reads "Chautauqua, NY" in gothic lettering. The spoon is hallmarked on the back in the lion mark of Towle Manufacturing Co., established in 1882. There is also a mark on the back of the handle saying"copyrighted L.L." and the rest is not legible. A lovely spoon for a collection or as an interesting addition to a coffee service.
