Description

Antique, 1940s Folk Art wooden Scroll Saw Cut wall newspaper/mail/note holder. Scrolling floral and tri-foil motif with hunting maidens on lower right and left. There is a 10 3/4 x 6 1/2 inch raised and white crackle finish motif in the center of the pocket says "Newspapers" and a small 2 1/2 inch diameter raised emblem with initials (CS? GS?) in the center of the lower outside edge of the item. The whole item measures 16 inches high, 21 3/4 inches wide and 4 1/4 inches deep. The newspaper/mail pocket measures 9 x 12 inches (outside) and 10 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches (inside) and the inside of the opening at the top is 3 1/2 inches deep and 1 1/2 inches deep at the bottom. Overall good condition except for missing tri-foil drop on lower right (originally mirrored the lower left), a top layer plywood chip missing on top right and a top layer plywood 3/4 inch piece missing (see photo details of these above). Unique organizational item with lovingly executed scroll work for an office, entry or kitchen.
