Vintage, clear crystal small lying Rabbit or Bunny Figurine or Paperweight by Baccarat, a design now retired. This handsome lying down rabbit is a wonderful example of the sensitive design of the animal sculptures produced by Baccarat in its facilities in France's Lorraine. Baccarat, known for its beautiful lead crystal vases, chandeliers, paperweights and perfume bottles already before the mid 1800s, produced its first animal sculptures in 1925 for the opening of the International Exhibition of Industrial and Decorative Arts in France. They were so popular that Baccarat began producing such figurines each year. This design dates to the 1980s and was retired in 2003. Rabbits represent rebirth, renewal, and abundance and when associated with the moon, are a symbol of immortality and good luck. This rabbit figurine measures 4 1/2" long, 3 1/4" deep and 3" high and weighs 1 lb 5 oz. Signed on the bottom edge and marked with an acid etched stamp on the bottom. This figurine is in very good condition with no chips or cracks, does have some small scratches on the bottom - see photos for details. Carefully packed and double boxed for shipping. A beautiful addition to a collection or as an elegant accent to a desk. Makes a great gift as a charm to bring abundance and longevity!
