Baccarat Crystal Snail Figurine or Art Glass Paperweight

Vintage, clear crystal large Snail Figurine or Paperweight by Baccarat, a design now retired. This handsome large snail is a wonderful example of the sensitive design of the animal sculptures produced by Baccarat in its facilities in France's Lorraine. Baccarat, known for its beautiful lead crystal vases, chandeliers, paperweights and perfume bottles already before the mid 1800s, produced its first animal sculptures in 1925 for the opening of the International Exhibition of Industrial and Decorative Arts in France. They were so popular that Baccarat began producing such figurines each year. This design dates to 1974 and was retired in 1992. Snails symbolize determination, patience, balance and connection with the rhythms of life. They are also a sign of slow but steady progress in your waking life towards your goals. This snail figurine measures 5" long, 2 1/2" deep and 2 1/2" high and weighs 1 lb. Baccarat etched stamp on bottom and signed on the lower side edge in the back.
