Baker Blue Faux Bamboo Cane Chinoiserie Barrel Chair w/ Needlepoint Cushion

Vintage, original, light blue painted and antiqued finish, wood carved, faux bamboo barrel accent or desk chair by Baker Furniture. This lovely, Chinoiserie-style chair has a caned seat under the custom made, needlepoint cushion with matching rope & tassel ties. The needlepoint on the cushion shows a charming vignette of two blue love birds surrounded by lotus flowers, orchids and grasses on a salmon and white background. Both the needlepoint and the matching rope & tassel ties are vintage and in excellent condition and the rest of the cushion has recently been restored with new velvet backing and piping and new feather/down fill. A nice accent that ups the comfort of the seat! The chair measures 21" wide and deep, 35 3/4" high at the back with a seat at 17 3/4" high. The inside seating area measures 18 1/2" wide and 17" deep and the cushion brings the seat height up to about 22 1/2" (with the down fill). Original Baker Furniture plaque of the 1960s can be found on the underside of the chair. Overall, this chair is in very good vintage condition with wear commensurate with age - wear on painted and antiqued finish surfaces especially on end of arm by rubbing of hands. There is a small break in the caning at the front of the seat seat that was addressed by reinforcement with a plywood panel and brackets integrated into the underside of the chair to ensure no damage to the chair and maintain its integrity. (This repair was done some time ago as shown by the age of the wood used for the reinforcement.) Please see photos for details and please inquire if you have any further questions.
