Vintage 1990s, large Chinese Zhou period revival style, archaistic patina bronze jar Table Lamp with Dragon Handles. The base of this lamp is a recreation of Hu-form jar, originally used to store wine, with symbolic knotted design which symbolized reunion and peace and the use of animalistic adornments - the dragons here. The metal jar sits atop a classic chinese footed wood base with cherry wood coloring. An antique brass finial tops the shade harp. This lamp measures 28" high to the top of the finial, is 14" wide at its widest points on the "jar" and has a 6" diameter wood base foot. The base alone measures 18" high. Without the shade, the lamp weighs a heft 16 lbs 10 oz. This lamp was made by Stonegate Designs (St. Joseph, MI), a manufacturer of custom lighting for luxury residences, hospitality and commercial applications and public spaces, established in the 1990s by Bill Carle, a 3rd generation leader of Lakeshore Studios, a high-end lighting manufacturer founded in Chicago in 1954. All of Stonegate's lamps are made in-house in the USA and are only sold through authorized dealers and reps. This lamp is in very good condition, with some slight wear showing on the wood base and on some of the original electrical parts such as the riser and harp - see photos for details. Has all original, working brass and brass plated parts, including a 3-way turn socket and brown chord and plug. Shade sold separately. Shipped without shade, harp and bulb. A very handsome lamp suitable for both traditional and modern interiors.
