Description
Set of 11, vintage, hand blown crystal in an cranberry-colored or dark pink, optic swirl pattern Water or large Wine Goblets with a transparent stem end foot - a style that is attributed to the F. Schmidt Rose Garda pattern produced by Theresienthal, Germany. [F. Schmidt Company designed and patented the Garda patterns in the US and had the glasses made by Theresienthal in Germany and imported them to the US. Theresienthal, the famed Bavarian crystal glass manufacturer started in 1836, by request of King Ludwig I of Bavaria and used the already well known techniques and styles of the local Bohemian glassmakers of the time. Theresienthal became the producer of hand made crystal for the German, Russian and French courts and served luxury markets all around the world and still do today, using both in-house and outside designers to produce new collections. The Rose Garda pattern, with its striking design and color became a classic and was replicated during the mid century by a number of crystal and glass producers in Germany and with variations (in the cup, stem or made of different kinds of glass) on the design by crystal and glass makers in England and the US.] Although these are not marked, the estate from which these come had other collections of German porcelain and glassware, alongside this set. Each of these glasses measures 4 1/8" in diameter at the top rim and stand 8 5/8" high. Beautiful ring in the glass, nice proportions and elegant lines make a distinctly Art Deco statement. In excellent condition. Photos show some small irregularities in the glass made during blowing process: a few small bubbles. A stunning set of glasses to set a stunning table for dinner or to pour a special bottle to toast a special occasion!
