Description
Vintage, gold vermeil Bow-shaped brooch or pin made in Mexico and stamped with "Des Pat Pend" (design patent pending). Such vermeil pieces produced in Mexico were made of gold vermeil or wash, usually 10k or 14k, over lightweight sterling. Costume jewelry producers such as Corocraft were known for making such pieces in the early 1940s when metals were primarily being used for war effort production. This brooch measures 2 1/2" (6.4cm) wide by 1 1/2" (4cm) high and is 5/8" (1.6cm) deep. In good vintage condition: Nice gold finish with some wear showing to the top lacquer coat that covers the gold - please see photos for details. Comes in a nice, matte black hardboard box with velvet liner for gifting. Lovely on its own to wear on a top, as a decoration on a handbag or to secure a scarf.
