Hudson’s Bay (HBC) 1953 Queen Elizabeth II Coronation 4 point Blanket 100% Wool

Vintage 1953, Hudson Bay Company Royal Purple and White Four Point Blanket created to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. This heavy (  lbs on its own) wool blanket in a rich purple color has bands of white across the top and bottom. The Hudson Bay Company started shipping wool blankets to the Americas in the late 1700s for use by trappers for bedding and cloaks but also for trade with the Native Americans. The four points on the selvage edge of this blanket was woven into the blankets when made to designates its size and value. The 4 points on this one designates a"queen-sized" blanket and accordingly this one measures  91" x 70". Although this is a used blanket, it is from a smoke-free home and in very good condition with even texture, even color and shape and a firmly affixed tag.
