Description
Vintage Kuhn Zinn enamel painted, cast pewter ornament showing a girl in a monk robe and hood holding a radish in one hand and a stein of beer in the other - the classic symbol of Bavaria. Kuhn Zinn was founded in 1960 and is the leader in the manufacture of artistic pewter items that are a local specialty to the German state of Bavaria. The company, located in Konigbronn bei Augsburg boasts a collection of over 2000 figurines in its "Little World of Pewter" as well as reliefs such as this one and other pewter items such as goblets and plates. Kuhn Zinn prides itself on using a food grade pewter alloy with no lead in all of its pieces. This charming ornament measures 1 1/2" (3.7cm) high and 1 1/2" (3.7cm) wide and weighs a hefty .5oz (14g). The ornament is in very good condition - only one small spot at the back of the head that shows wear (see photo) - and is full of intricate detail in both the molded metal as well as painted enamel work on the back and front. A fun scene for a beer lover or someone with a sense of humor. Great addition to a collection, as a fun gift wrapping accent or as a Christmas tree ornament.
