Olfaire Majolica Aparagus Large Lidded Tureen Pot Jar Canister Portugal XC

Vintage, large hand painted ceramic tureen or jar with side handles and handled lid in the shape of a bound bunch of fresh asparagus spears. This wonderful piece was made by Olfaire, whose factory is in the famed town of Caldas de Rainha, Portugal, the hub of the Portuguese majolica industry. Nicely made with vibrant color and wit with asparagus stem handles on the sides and separate lid. Nicely designed in that the lid fits well in all positions. The pot measures 12.5" wide (including the handles), 9" deep and 9" high (with the lid on). With the lid removed, the top opening (has a lip to hold the lid) is roughly 6" - 6.5" square and the inside is 4.75" deep. This container is large enough to serve as a flour canister, cookie jar or serving piece for potatoes, soup and more. In excellent condition, with no chips/ cracks.
