Tree of Life Belgian Woven Wall Hanging Tapestry lined w/ hanging rod

Pre-owned, William Morris Design, Tree of Life Motif, reproduction woven tapestry from Belgium. This 33 1/2" (cm) by 26" (cm) tapestry is fully lined with tan twill fabric with a rod pocket to accommodate the finial-tipped wood hanging rod that comes with it. Both the rod and the tapestry are in very good condition - see photos for details. The tapestry has also recently been dry cleaned making it and the rod ready to hang. The design of this tapestry was inspired by the classic which was first produced by William Morris (1834-1896), the principal force behind the Arts and Crafts Movement in England. Morris used past influences and the natural
world around him to break out of the Victorian stuffiness of his time and, inspired by artists of medieval times he created a new style that influenced painting, architecture, textiles, ceramics, stained glass, printing, wallpaper and tapestries of the time. This classic Tree of Life design was crafted by him in the 1870s and remains a popular design today. Its natural colors and floral motifs on a rich woven textile surface adds warmth and interest to a space and invites the enlightening feeling of the Arts and Crafts aesthetic.
