Vintage cinnabar lacquer enamel on brass Box with lid

Vintage, Chinese lidded box made of carved cinnabar lacquer with a brass base and cobalt blue enameling on the bottom and inside. Carvings into the red lacquer include leaf and flower motifs and scrolling designs with an artichoke-like finial on the lid surrounded by a circle of long petal-like shapes. This lovely box measures 4" in diameter at its widest points and 2 3/4" high (to top of finial). In excellent condition with only minor surface wear (see photos for details).
