Vintage pair of 1960s gilt cast iron tall candleholders with ornate, scroll, filigree-type openwork. A round, domed-shaped base with 3 brackets ended in small bead-sized feet grounds a shapely column that is topped with a beboche surrounded with a series of scrolls around the edge and a candle opening with raised sides in the middle. These candlesticks fit standard taper candles and the beboches can take hurricanes with bases of up to 2" in diameter. These Hollywood Regency style candlesticks measure 13 1/2" (34.2cm) high and 6 1/8" (15.5cm) in diameter at their bases. They are heavy, weighing in at 2 lbs 13oz (1 kg 272g) each. The distressed gilding extends to the bottoms where the Japan made label is found. An interesting pair of candlesticks in very good condition with nice patina is suitable for both casual and formal environments and can be used indoors or out.
