Vintage Japan Black Lacquer Jewelry Box Hand Painted Musical Lock Key VGC Large

Vintage, hand painted, black lacquer, musical jewelry box with tasseled key in working lock. This is a large, 14" (36.5cm) wide, 5 5/8" (14.5cm) high and 7 3/8" (18.8cm) deep box has a number of drawers and compartments lined in red velveteen to separate and store special pieces. There are 2 drawers, one on the bottom right and one on the bottom left, with lift compartments on right and left above them. There are also 2 compartments in the center with hidden mirrors and a hidden compartment covered by more doors outfitted with braided red silken tassels. The jewelry box includes key with yellow silken tassel and a working music box with gentle, elegant Asian theme that winds from a key at the bottom of the box. The glossy black lacquer exterior is covered on all sides with Japanese-style scenes of Mt Fuji, temples, water and boats, trees and hills in gold and colored paints in bright colors used in the last 50 years. This box is in very good condition, clean and ready to use! A wonderful gift or lovely addition to any collection of jewelry or trinkets.
