Vintage White Flat Woven Ceramic Basket Bread Bowl Italy Farmhouse Planter

Vintage, unused, white woven ceramic basket with handles and original tag which indicates it was made in Italy for Broadway (Southern California-based department stores, established before 1900, that were converted to Bloomingdales stores in the west after they were acquired by Federated Stores in 1996). This lovely bowl measures 10 1/4" (26cm) by 7" (17.8cm) oval with sides that are 5"(12.7cm) high including the handles. The body of the basket is constructed of flat rolled clay slats woven together to form the bowl and topped off with handles made from twisted, rolled clay ropes. Painted white and covered with a high gloss glaze. In excellent condition, this timeless piece is suitable for serving, decor or storage of items on a coffee table, in an entry or even in a bath. When given a waterproof liner, makes a charming container for plants or flower arranging.
