Vtg 3 Outiero Agueda Portugal Pottery Hand Painted Birds Wall Pocket Planter

Vintage, set of 3, hand-painted Portuguese ceramic wall pocket /planters produced by the Outeiro Agueda. These planters depict a multicolored bird piched on a fantastical floral branch and surrounded by other sprigs of similar foliage, rendered in the signature feathery style of Agueda pottery. The wall pockets measure (top dimensions): large - 7" high, 6" wide and 3" deep; Medium - 5 1/4" high, 5" wide and 2 1/4" deep; small - 4 1/4" high, 4" wide, 2" deep. Back panel has hanging hole on back panel and producer's marks and signatures. In very good condition, with no chips or cracks - see photos for details. Agueda, an old city in western Portugal, is known for its handicrafts of pottery, basket-weaving, knits and leather tooling which have been sold far and wide due to the city's location on the Vouga River and a stopover location for the route to the pilgrimage city of Santiago de Campostella. A nicely painted, cheerful set of planters to add a botanical touch to a space, indoors or out.
