Vintage, cast pewter, enamel hand-painted, 2 sided St. Nicholas (Nikolaus) figurine by Wilhelm Schweizer Zinnfiguren in its original box (7452A). Wilhelm Schweizer Zinnmanufaktur of Diessen, Germany has been a family-owned operation since 1796 and is known for its meticulously cast and painted "tin" soldiers and figures of all kinds: Christmas ornaments to Easter decorations, from standing Folklore, Santa and Angel Figures to pictures for walls and windows. This wonderful St. Nicholas figurine measures 3 3/8" (8.5 cm) high, 2 1/4" (5.6 cm) wide and 8/5" (1.5 cm) deep at the base. In very good condition - see photos for details. An wonderful reminder of the original St. Nik who visited children in Germany on his names day on December 6 to give out treats or coal, the inspiration for Santa Claus. An unusual addition to a collection, a Christmas vignette or to add to a Christmas tree.
