This impressive large-format volume provides an extensively illustrated record of the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition, commonly known as the St. Louis World’s Fair.
The book contains official photographic views documenting the exposition’s monumental architecture, elaborate grounds, sculptures, waterways, exhibits, state and national displays, ceremonies and enormous public gatherings. Shown among the photographed subjects are Festival Hall and the Grand Basin, Plaza Saint Anthony, opening-day ceremonies and many of the exposition’s ornate buildings and landscaped public spaces.
The volume is bound in textured burgundy-red cloth with gilt lettering reading “The Forest City 1904.” It contains numerous full-page black-and-white photographic plates, descriptive text and colour imagery, offering a remarkable visual record of one of the most celebrated international expositions of the early twentieth century.

This is a fragile, well-used copy with considerable age-related wear. Condition issues include:
