Nintendo vintage Hanafuda Tengu red demon design Japanese playing cards antique

Up for grabs a rare set of Nintendo Hanafuda Japanese playing cards. This is a GREAT Nintendo collectible, as most of you know that Nintendo began as a playing card manufacturer in the late 1800s. This style of card, hanafuda, is the same style that Nintendo began manufacturing at their incorporation in 1889. This design, the Tengu (demon from Japanese folklore) design, is one of Nintendo's trademark designs and they have been making some version of this design for at least a century. This design also features the round "marufuku" trademark (the kanji for Fortune encloses in a circle) that Nintendo began using as a trademark in the early 20th century, and continues to use on some of its hanafuda and kartua sets.
The paulownia flower card that I've pulled on the lower left shows Nintendo's name in kanji.

This is a great collectible for those interested in Nintendo's "pre-Mario" history, from the time when they were not yet a worldwide known name.

These cards are used but there is no major damage.
