Unlike the Mother of Pearl Slices/Plates (Flat back & Flat top), these Cabochons will not have an iridescence all the way across the top surface of the gemstone. This is due to the curve of the dome and the substance that causes the iridescence, which is only a very thin layer on the inside of the shell. The dome decreases below the surface of this layer therefore losing the iridescence as it approaches the edge of the gemstone. Please note that due to the nature of the gemstone, variations may occur in the hue of the gemstone. For example, it is common for Mother of Pearl to have a more cream color instead of a pure white.
