Tiny Treasures and Tails grew from a lifelong love of small things made with extraordinary care.

I’m a collector first, and my shop grew naturally from the joy of finding, researching, displaying, and appreciating adorable miniatures. I collect Hagen-Renaker animals and Wee Forest Folk myself, and I’m endlessly fascinated by the craftsmanship behind them, the tiny sculpted details, the hand-painted faces and markings, and the fact that something so small can have so much personality.

But for me, collecting has never been only about the object itself. Each piece holds a memory, a story. It might remind us of a childhood pet, a person we loved, a place we once lived, a collection we admired as a child, or a moment in our lives we want to hold onto. Sometimes we know the story a piece carries, and sometimes we simply get to become the next chapter in it.

And then there’s the hunt: searching for years and finally finding the one, that elusive piece collectors lovingly call their “Holy Grail.” There is something wonderfully satisfying about finally seeing a piece you’ve searched for forever sitting safely on your own shelf.

Eventually, my own collecting led me to buying larger groups and collections, which meant I could keep the pieces that spoke to me and help the others find new homes. Tiny Treasures and Tails grew from there.

Today, the shop is filled primarily with vintage and collectible miniatures, including Hagen Renaker animals, Wee Forest Folk, and other wonderful little treasures I discover along the way. I photograph, describe, and handle each piece with the same care I would want as a collector buying for myself.

One of my favorite things about collecting is knowing that these stories don’t have to end with us. I love the idea of introducing these tiny works of art to new collectors and new generations, passing along not only the pieces themselves, but an appreciation for their craftsmanship, history, charm, and the memories they can carry.
